a little bicycle update

Me and the boy have been working hard the past week to try and find all the pieces we need to complete the bike. These include an entire new gear system, new brakes and a pretty purple bell (of course this is the most important!)

Before the big changes!

Today I started to clean and polish all the chrome accessories on the bike and they are now gleaming and mirror like! I then decided that the boy should paint it so if anything went wrong it was his fault....but like the pro he is it looks amazing. I can't wait for all the bits to arrive so I can go a a ride on it. Hopefully in the next couple of weeks it will be done!

The pretty paint job!

Post ideas

I am thinking of trying to blog with a bit more purpose and structure. Although I like just randomly posting when I feel like I need to share it means that I post really erratically and I end up feeling guilty when I don't post more than once a week.

So I am trying to come up with different things to blog about each day.

so far I have come up with -

1. Uni work update
2. High street fashion reviews and outfit ideas
3. Craft updates
4. Designer runway reviews
5. Ways to cheat designer or high street looks

Not sure if I will use all these or whether I will even give this a go but I thought it would be a good idea to try!

Blackberry Fun and Shopping Disappointment

This weekend has been a good, homely weekend! On Saturday me and the boy went for a long walk along the canal and came across loads and loads of blackberries! We then spent ages getting covered in blackberry juice, get stung by stinging nettles and getting hook on thorns to get to the fattest blackberries! We ended up getting a massive back of them so I decided to Blackberry and Lemon Scones and although they turned out more cakey as the boy has limited baking equipment, they were still really tasty!

Today I decided I needed to go shopping for some lovely new autumn dresses and skirts but was pretty disappointed. New Look and a large selection of new things but it was all too pretty pretty and although I love looking feminine I like to have a bit of an edge. I did fall in love with these boots however and think that as soon as I get paid I will be investing in them!

I was pretty disheartened with what Topshop had on display so was only in there for a matter of minutes although I did spy this jumper that I have seen when I have gone in before. I love the little pom poms on it but I was a bit taken aback by the price of £35 so decided to by a plain jumper from Primark for £5 and will sew on some pom poms myself!

I did find a dress with pretty swallows on it and long sleeves and a mint coloured polka dot skirt from Primark but even then I struggled to find those bits. I think I will have to go back in a couple of weeks to see if more of the new Autumn stock has made it out on to the high street!

Homeless is where the heart is

We recently received our summer project and I was a bit stumped when we were asked to interpret the phrase 'Home is Where the Heart Is'. I haven't had a particularly interesting childhood and don't have a great tie to a home so wanted to base my project on something else!

As with all great projects I started with a spider diagram I decided to focus on the homeless. I found an amazing book that shows photos of houses that homeless people have made for themselves.

I thought I would share a couple of the inspirational images I have found so far

I want to ride my bicycle....

A few years ago my lovely boyfriend made me a bike! I loved it but it was slightly to tall for me as I am so small, so it ended up going in the shed and I forgot about it! Well in an effort to get a bit fitter we have decided to try and get it the right size for me. At the moment it is in bits but hopefully it will look like this...

This bicycle is from the Pearl and the Puppets video for 'Make Me Smile'

Lucky me!

I am so lucky to have a dad like mine! After the stash I bought from Knit Nation I wanted to start knitting with it straight away - however that would involve hand winding each skein into a ball and with some of the skeins being up to 1000 meters long I was not looking forward to that!

I desperately wanted a ball winder but they are quite expensive and so I showed a picture of one to my dad and a week later he had made one! Just from looking at the picture!

here it is!

and here is the lovely ball it made!
