New Look!

I have been wanting to change the layout and design of this blog for a little while now and just found a spare 20 mins to do it. It all started with a new name. I have been trying to come up with something catchy but that reflects me and I finally came up with 'polka dots and dreams'. It seems quite apt as I love polka dots and this blog is a place for me to share my dreams so it sort of fits! I think it looks much fresher which is perfect for Spring!

Nibbled Feet!

This weekend I went back home to see the family before Uni gets too stressful and ended up cramming a ridiculous amount in 1 and a half days! On Saturday I went shopping with my mum and started the day at Appy Feet, a new fish pedicure place that has opened. I was a bit apprehensive at first as I have very tickely feet and don't really like people touching them but I popped them in the tank and a swarm of fish jumped on me. It felt really strange to begin with, sort of like pins and needles but I soon got used to it and it felt actually quite relaxing. We had a 10 minute slot and it was plenty although you could opt for 35 minutes but I think that would be way too long. Afterwards my feet felt soft and smooth and this morning after putting on some foot lotion, as advised by the team, they still felt lovely and supple. I will definitely be going back when I next go home.

After getting nibbled we hit the shops, with me on the look out for some Spring trousers, blouses and anything with a peter pan collar. I tried on quite a lot but only came away with this blouse from New Look, which was only £15.99. I am going to take off the ties from the front though as it looked a bit too fussy on me. I also found a gorgeous babydoll style tunic top in the sale in River Island for only £10! I did find some lovely polka dot cotton rich tights from Primark too.

This week is going to be quite a busy one as I have my first fitting for final collection on Tuesday afternoon and although I am quietly confident at the moment I am sure they will be lots of changes to make! Hopefully I will be able to keep you updated with everything that goes on this week.

Anyone find any bargains in the shops this weekend?

so fashion week begins again

Its that time of February again when London Fashion Week begins. Everyone seems to get over excited about the endless designer offerings over the 6 day event and although I love fashion and am intrigued to see what is going to be in the shops next season, I am only looking forward to the menswear day on Wednesday.

I find being on a Fashion Design course helps to curb my enthusiasm I once had for Fashion Week. Everyday I see amazing concepts, fabrics and designs - some of which are quite avant guard, others quite restrained, and it gets me thinking that the majority of the fashion industry is quite boring and samey. Don't get me wrong, there are some designers I love - Mark Fast, Burberry Prorsum and Tim Soar are a few - but I think its the new, young and fresh talent that should get a helping hand to show their exciting ideas.

What do you think? Do you love or loathe Fashion Week?

Pretty Nails #2

You would have thought that with Final Collection well under-way I wouldn't have time to do crazy nail art... However I seem to have everything under control a the minute so here are some pretty sparkly leopard print nails!

Pet My Ballad

About a year ago I discovered Ballad Of magazine. It is a really interesting mix of art from new and emerging artists that submit work based on the theme of the magazine and if the founders like it is goes in.

The upcoming issue is called 'Pet my Ballad' and there was a call for pictures of pets past and present and so I sent some pictures of my gorgeous little ratties Dusty and Ash and they are on the website! Head over to Ballad Of to see them!

busy bee

I love baking, and today instead of purely dedicating the day to Final Collection I decided to try out a couple of recipes. I have been addicted to Baking Made Easy with Lorraine Pascal and every week she makes baking bread look so easy so I thought I would give it a go! I decided on trying the Rosemary and Sea Salt Foccacia first and couldn't believe the results. I don't have food mixer with a dough hook so had to do all the mixing and kneading by hand and after about 10 mins the dough was looking great.

I then left it to rise, and put the rosemary and sea salt on top

and then baked it

I cant believe how it turned out and it is really tasty - I will definitely be using this recipe again but maybe put some sundried tomatoes or olives in the dough
