Charity Shop Finds #1

Hello Lovelies,

Firstly a couple of church notices! I am having a sale on my Etsy shop at minute to try and cheer everyone up after the terrible weather we are having so if you enter the code RAINYDAY you will get 20% off your order :). Secondly I am trying to raise some funds so if you check out my Blog Sale here I would be forever in your debt!

Yesterday I went to my local town parade with my Mum. Its theme was 'Countries of the World' and there were so many cute little kids all dressed up in various national costumes *bless*. While we were in town I thought it would be rude not to pop into the charity shops... and I ended up coming away with two gems!

In one of favourite charity shops there was a massive basket filled with the most beautiful fabric. I could literally have bought everything thing but considering I have the fabric bursting out boxes in my studio I tried to restrain myself. However I couldn't leave this beauty behind! It is 5 meters (I still can't quite believe its that much!) of hand woven fabric - all for the teeny tiny price of £5!!! I still can't believe how cheap it was. I am not sure what to make with it (truth be told I am a little bit scared of cutting into and ruining it...) but I was contemplating something along the lines of a kimono style jacket. What do you think?

My second little gem was found folded up at the bottom of the same basket (yes I did empty the whole basket onto the floor!). It is the most adorable hand embroided tea towel featuring a map of the UK. It is so cute I can't quite get my head around it and it was only £1.50. I was going to just frame it but I decided instead to turn it into a big cushion for our sofa when we move house in September. Do you think it cute or random?

What do you think of my bargains?

  4. Oh when I saw the picture of the tea towel I thought it'd make a cute pillow too!

As for the kimono thing, maybe you could make a mock up of it first using different material to make yourself feel better when you do finally cut into it?

    1. Thanks! Hopefully I will have time this weekend to make the cushion :

I think I will make a mock up first as I am not even sure the shape would suit me!
