Exciting News!

I have some exciting news! I little while ago the lovely Lara - editor of Mollie Makes magazine contacted me to ask if I would be interested in contributing a bracelet design for Issue 30. As Mollie Makes is one of my favourite magazines (I have EVERY issue!) I jumped at the chance.

Since I myself am pretty new to crochet writing a pattern for my scalloped crochet and chain bracelet was pretty challenging as I just kinda made it up as I went along when I was designing them! But with a bit of help from the Mollie Makes team I was able to create a pretty good tutorial!

The issue should be out now so go grab a copy! The bracelets are still available for sale on my shop here.

He Finally Asked!

Hello Lovelies,

A few weeks ago nearly 9 (yes NINE!) years after me and the boy got together he proposed!

If you follow me on Twitter or Instagram you will have seen this update but I wanted to share a few more details here :)

Little bit of a back story - the boy had bought me a simple silver ring about 8 years ago which I wore everyday up until a couple of months ago when it broke :(

A couple of Saturdays ago we spent the morning at London Zoo which is one of my favourite places to visit, looking at all the lovely animals and spending a crazy amount of time at the new Tiger Territory. After the boy buying me a crazy amount of tiger related bits and bobs from the gift shop we went and sat in Regents Park. After a little while he said he had a couple of surprises for me, one of which as a new ring to replace my broken one (cue a little light bulb going on in my head) but he wanted to check I liked it. He asked me to close my eyes and hold out my hands... a few moment later he said I could open my eyes and he was down on one knee!

It turns out that he had been planning the proposal for over 2 months and had actually chosen every aspect of the design of the ring - even chosen the actual diamond in the centre.

I think the fact that I am now engaged has finally sunk in although I still get butterflies when I think about it! We are hoping to get married this time next year so this little blog may get taken over with wedding related joy!

Coveting - Anthropologie

Hello Lovelies,

Even though I am a long way away from owning my own home I keep browsing Pinterest and home magazines for decorating inspiration. I would love a teal and white kitchen like this one.

As I can't paint my teeny rented kitchen I thought I would choose some lovely teal bits from one my my favourite (but expensive) shops, Anthropologie.

1. Ice Cream Cone Dish - £6.00
2. Teal Glass Goblet - £6.00
3. Whale Measuring Cups - £28.00
4. Cheese Knife Set - £30.00
5. Frosted Doily Plate - £22.00

What do you think of my picks? What colour would you paint your dream kitchen?

DIY Knotted Plant Holder

Hey Lovelies,

Finally I been able to finish this really simple and crazily cheap DIY. As you all know by now I have a little bit of an obsession with Succulents and whilst repotting them last week I had one little one left over without a pot. I wanted to create something a bit different and decided to create a really retro knotted plant holder.

All you need is a clean jam jar, some string, spray paint of your choice and a lovely little succulent!

1. First step is to spray paint your jar - I did 3 thin coats.
2. Cut 8 lengths of string around 75cm long
3. Knot them all together at one end

4 & 5. Separate the strings into 4 groups of 2 and knot them together as above

6. Separate the strands and knot them as shown above

7. Bring the top spare string over to the bottom spare string and not together. Repeat the above steps until they cover your jar

8. Pop your holder on your jar and knot all 8 strings together around 15cm above your last set of knots

9. Pot up your little succulent in the jar and pop him in the holder

I hope that makes sense! It is really easy when you start knotting them.

What do you think?

Strawberry Crumble Cake

Hey Lovelies,

On Tuesday I went to the local market on my lunch break and ended up buying lots of very ripe strawberries - how anyone can walk by 2 large punnets for a £1 is beyond me! This however has lead to strawberries that rapidly need using up. I haven't baked in a little while so I thought I would bake a yummy strawberry cake. Although I wanted to make it little bit more special and my answer to that is add a crumble topping - everything is better with a crumble on top!

So here is the very simple recipe!

Strawberry Crumble Cake

For the Cake:
100g Butter
100g Dark Brown Soft Sugar
150g Plain Flour
50g Cornflour
1 tbsp Baking Powder
2 Large Eggs
1 tsp Ground Cinnamon
Zest of Half a Lemon
8-10 Strawberries roughly chopped
8-10 Strawberries Sliced

For the Crumble:
75g Plain Flour
65g Butter
65g Dark Brown Soft Sugar
65g Porridge Oats

1. Preheat the oven to 180oC.

2. For the sponge, cream together the butter and sugar. Add the flour, cornflour and baking powder. Add the eggs a bit at a time  and finally mix in the cinnamon, lemon zest and chopped strawberries.

3. Pour the mixture into a greased 23cm springform cake tin and spread evenly.

4. Top the sponge mixture with the sliced strawberries.

5. For the crumble combine the flour, butter, sugar and oats and rub together till it resembles coarse breadcrumbs. Sprinkly over the strawberries.

6. Bake 40-45 minutes.

7. Once cooked allow to cool in the tin on a wire rack.

Review: MUA £1 Nail Polish

Hello Lovelies,

Now I am sure if you saw my nail varnish collection you would say that I didn't need anymore... and you would probably be right.

However as with all beauty/fashion/craft related things in my life it is more a case of:

'Is it a bargain?'

'Do I have room for it?'

'Will the boy notice if I buy it?'

If the answers are Yes, Yes and No then we have a purchase!

So in comes 3 ever so cute nail varnishes that I couldn't say no to as they were only £1 each!

L-R: Bright Pink, Pistachio Ice Cream and Frozen Yogurt all £1 each from MUA

They are by MUA and yes they are a complete design rip off of Essie for they are just so cute. The coverage is pretty amazing too. All the below swatches were 2 coats. I also was wearing the purple shade for about 4 days before there was any sign of chipping - and that was mainly due to too much washing up (I must train the boy better!).

Bright Pink

Pistachio Ice Cream

Frozen Yogurt

There are 18 colours in the range at the moment and I think I will have to go get some more on Pay Day!

What do you think about these polishes? Have you treated yourself to any bargain beauty?

Review: L'Oreal Skin Perfection 3 in 1 Purifying Micellar Solution

L'Oreal 3 in 1 Micellar Cleansing Water - Currently £2.48 in Superdrug

Hello Lovelies,

I don't usually do beauty product reviews as I think there are enough beauty bloggers out there already, but I do want to share products that I really love. First up in this series is the new L'Oreal 3 in 1 Purifying Micellar Solution.

Now since I received the Etat Pur Micellar Cleansing Water in a Latest in Beauty box (review here) I haven't used anything else to remove my makeup. I have very sensitive skin, especially around my eyes, but I hate cream cleansers with a passion. The Etat Pur Micellar Cleansing Water is brilliant and removes my sometimes very eye make up with ease without irritating my eyes or the delicate skin around my eyes.

The only problem with it is that I have to order it. I am not the most organised person and I often have to run to Boots for deodorant or shampoo just as I have used the very last of my supplies. So I have been checking every week in the hope that a drugstore brand would come up with the micellar cleanser of my dreams I think I have found it!

The L'Oreal cleanser easily removes all my eye make-up without causing any discomfort. It can also be used all over the face to unclog pores, remove impurities and tone and although I am happy with my current skincare regime if I am feeling particularly lazy I can cleanse and tone my whole face in one easy step.

It is currently half price in Superdrug which makes it a complete bargain at £2.48!

Have you tried this product? What do you think?

Outfit: Coral and Tan

Hello Lovelies,

I haven't posted an outfit for a long time but I thought since the weather is so beautiful at the moment it would be the perfect time to get some shots outside.

In a couple of weeks it is the Boys Dad's Birthday and we are going out for a meal at lunchtime. I always struggle with putting together a smart casual day look so I thought I would trial it out today.

Cardigan: Monsoon | Top: Laura Ashley | Jeans: Tesco | Shoes: New Look | Bag: c/o Joules Clothing

I have always thought that I could never wear peplum tops as I have reasonable hips - but this lovely coral version nips me in at the waist and skims over.

I am a little bit in love with this tan leather clutch from Joules Clothing. It is perfect colour for daytime use and is such a simple shape it will go with pretty much everything. It also is big enough so I can carry all all my * necessities*!

I love that little hare stamp!

Pretty floral lining

What do you think of my first outfit post in forever? What would you wear to a lunch meal?
